Since 2006, Linda Mazon Gutierrez, President CEO of the Hispanic Women’s Corporation, has successfully partnered with the Maricopa Community Colleges ACE (Achieving a College Education) program to provide scholarships for ACE graduates. And this year, we are pleased to honor her as the 2015 Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation Heroes of Education Award recipient.
Serving the community has always been at the heart of Mrs. Gutierrez’ work. She served as the congressional and state legislative liaison on health care issues for the State of Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System for 25 years and prior to her retirement in 2007 from state government served as the liaison to the National Governor’s Association in Washington D.C. Mrs. Gutierrez is married to former Senator Jaime Gutierrez and together they have four children.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Heroes of Education Award is given yearly to a champion of public Education in Arizona and recognizes the personal and professional commitment to support Maricopa Community College students and educational opportunities. Since 2006, this event has raised over $1 million in scholarship funds to support the Maricopa ACE Program, the Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) matching scholarship fund and the general scholarship fund.
Mrs. Gutierrez will be recognized for her accomplishments at the Heroes of Education event on April 16, 2015 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel.
