Intel Corporation pushes the boundaries of innovation so its work can make people’s lives more exciting, fulfilling, and manageable. Dawn Jones of Intel in Arizona says, “Intel is a key part of the company’s worldwide operations. Since its opening in 1980, Intel has invested more than $12 billion in local capital.” With 9,700 employees, Intel is the largest employer in Chandler.
Intel has been provided funding for scholarships, grants and programs throughout the Maricopa County Community College District since 1995. She also says, “In partnering with MCCCD, Intel found that the District had an existing strong relationship with its communities and a pulse on workforce and economic development needs.”
Additionally as Intel has grown in the community, and its focus has continuously shifted, MCCCD is still able to be a wonderful partner. The District supports the needs of Intel’s existing employees who continuously benefit from tuition assistance program and increase their skills and capabilities through community college courses and programs.
In April 2017, the Intel Foundation announced that they have selected their first coalition of partners for the Middle School Girls’ Initiative. Their $1 million investment will allow their partners and them to drive collective action to empower, excite, encourage, and engage middle school girls from disenfranchised communities in Arizona as part of the Intel® She Will Connect program.
Collaboration is key to meet the challenges ahead of them and help fulfill the Intel® She Will Connect mission, specifically in their goal of inspiring United States middle school girls to become technology creators and innovators.
