Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust
Nina Mason Pulliam was a journalist, business leader and humanitarian. She helped her husband Eugene C. Pulliam build Central Newspapers, Inc., into one of the nation’s leading newspaper publishing companies, from which she retired in 1979. Edmund Portnoy, Director of Grants Programs in Arizona says, “Upon her death in 1997, the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust was founded to create opportunities for people in need, to care for animals and nature and to improve community life in Arizona and Indiana where Mrs. Pulliam lived and worked.”
In 2001, the Trust established the Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars program in tribute to the life and values of its benefactress. Participating schools are Maricopa Community Colleges, Arizona State University, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), and Ivy Tech State College-Indianapolis Campus.
