“My college really supports me and the instructors are really understanding.”

Jeremy is a passionate student, who despite challenging health issues, continues to persevere in his higher education journey.

Studying Industrial Technology at the Maricopa Community Colleges, Jeremy said if it wasn’t for the instructors and the college in general, he would have given up a long time ago.

“Given my health situation, it has taken me much longer than the average student takes in this program,” he said. “However the college really supports me and the instructors are really understanding.”

Because of this, Jeremy graduated four months ago with a certificate in entry level machining. With only a couple more classes, he will be certified as an entry level 1 machinist.

“In one month, I will receive my certification and I already have a job offer to work for the college system,” he said. “I have been asked to work as a machinist at the GateWay-Maricopa Skill Center.”

Jeremy said that his health situation prevents him from working a full time machinist position, but is grateful to the Maricopa Community Colleges for all of the opportunities they have given him. So much in fact, that he wants to continue his education.

“I’m trying to get into the engineering or aerospace field,” he said. “I really want to keep my knowledge up while I am working and the Maricopa Community Colleges is the best place for that.”
