“Pursuing this degree is also teaching my children that it is never too late to follow your dreams.”
Tammy is a stay at home mom who is returning to school for a RN degree. In raising two children, paying the mortgage and car payments and meeting her family’s daily needs is a challenge on just her husband’s salary. In addition, she is also pursuing a Master’s degree at Grand Canyon University. She realizes that the added expense can be overwhelming, but knows it’s an investment in herself that it will pay off down the road.
She said, “Choosing to go back to school was a tough decision, but I am so passionate about becoming a nurse. It’s important to me to help others. I knew it was the right choice for me and my family.” She acknowledges that being back in school is time consuming and creates a financial burden.
Receiving a scholarship made a different in her and her family’s lives. She remarked, “The scholarship from the Kemper and Ethel Marley Foundation helps immensely with the costs involved in pursuing my dream career. I couldn’t make it happen without their generosity.”
