The criteria for the selection of recipients: * Must identify as LGBT or as an Ally or the LGBT community * Must have a record of' involvement and support of the LGBT community LGBT issues * Scholarships are for student that plan to attend PVCC: * Must be taking at least 6 credits during the application year and the recipient year. * Must have a 2.0 accumulative GPA * Complete a scholarship application and supporting materials to be submitted before April 15, 2010 The application process will consist of: * Completion of an application form * Submission of unofficial college transcripts (or High School transcripts not college experience) * Two letters of recommendation from LGBT leaders or role models * A typed essay (500- 1000 words) that: * Discusses career goals and aspirations * Lists education goals * Details involvement in the LGBT community * Describes why they qualified to receive this scholarship A selection committee consisting of at least five PVCC employees will screen applications and select recipients. The amount to be dispersed each year will be determined by the committee and be dependent upon the funds available and the number of qualified recipients. The Chair or this committee will be the advisor for the PVCC PRIDE club or a person designated by the PRIDE club advisor. In the event that there is not an advisor available. the Director or PVCC Student Lire will either Chair the committee or appoint someone to Chair the committee.
