Emergency Funds Program

Picture of SarahI received emergency funds to replace my bicycle, after it was stolen on campus. Now I’m able to complete my education without worrying about how I’m going to get to class.”

I’m a non-traditional adult college student completing my Associate’s in Arts degree from Phoenix College (PC). I chose PC because of the affordability and proximity to my home.

With the help of PC, and all of the resources they have provided me, I’m applying to transfer to a four-year university. In addition to the large research universities I’m considering… Ivy League schools remain a possibility. Phoenix College has been a vital stepping stone in helping me grow both professionally and academically.

Sarah is studying anthropology and international studies at Phoenix College. She is fascinated by other cultures and plans to focus on how to break down cultural barriers and misunderstandings stemming from cultural interactions.

The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation established Emergency Funds to help students in need all across the District, so that they can focus on their education and not their financial situation. Since its inception in 2015, more than $56,000 has been awarded.
