Little did Milos P. know what he was in store for that day that he came to an open house at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. After having left the mid-west for new opportunities he stopped into this open house to see what there was to offer. What he found was “caring people who helped me maneuver the road of higher education and helped me become the person I am today…an aeronautical engineer with Honeywell!”
He goes on to say, “not only did I find out about scholarship opportunities that day but I won the door prize, a $500 scholarship to attend Chandler-Gilbert Community College.”
This was just the beginning for Milos who graduated from CGCC and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree at Arizona State University. “All in all, I have received over $25,000 in scholarships over my educational career and I am convinced that it was that first scholarship that made me understand how people are willing to help you get an education, you simply have to be willing to put in the time and the commitment!”
Today, Milos is working on his Master’s Degree and thinks back fondly of his time at CGCC. He tells his young niece and nephew his story and encourages them to do well in school and when the time comes, he is there to give them navigate their first steps in pursuing a college education.
